How do I reset my ASD?
The ASD relay cannot be reset — it, or the power module, must be replaced.
What is an ASD relay?
One of these components is the automatic shutdown relay, commonly referred to as the ASD relay. The ASD relay is responsible for supplying switched 12-volt power to the vehicle’s injectors and ignition coils, allowing them to provide fuel and produce spark.
Can you bypass ASD relay?
Bypassing the ASD relay in your vehicle is a safe move. Personally, I do not think that it will damage the vehicle only if it is done properly. It is because the power will still run through the stock wires that it was originally made to pass through.
What does it mean when the ASD relay shuts down?
ASD relay closes for 2 seconds, but you discover no 12vdc at coil + or injector 12vdc power is dead (during said 2 seconds), or (0v) cranking. – This means the ASD relay is bad. (bad contacts, replace it) ASD relay closes, but I have no spark to any cylinders.
Where does terminal 30 connect to the ASD relay?
The rest of the circuit is not being supplied with power. When the fuel pump and automatic shutdown relay are powered by the powertrain control module (PCM), terminal number 30 connects to terminal 87 in an on position. Voltage is being supplied to the remaining part of the circuit by terminal number 87.
Where does the Powertrain Control Module grounds the ASD relay?
The Powertrain control module grounds the ASD relay from the side of the coil through terminal 85. Voltage is being supplied to the coil side of the ASD relay by terminal 86
